Una historia muy navideña: A Christmas Carol ó Cuento de Navidad (como fue traducido al castellano), es una novela corta escrita por Charles Dickens en 1843.

Ebenezer Scrooge es una persona avara y huraña que no celebra la fiesta de Navidad a causa de su solitaria vida y su adicción al trabajo: los demás no le importan, sólo se preocupa por sí mismo.

Ebenezer Scrooge is a miser and unsociable person who does not celebrate Christmas because of his lonely life and work addiction: the other do not matter, only cares about himself.

En víspera de Navidad se le presentan los 3 Espíritus: de las Navidades Pasadas, de las Navidades Presentes y de las Navidades Futuras, enseñándole ciertos aspectos de su vida pasada, presente y futura.

On Christmas Eve 3 Spirits appear to him: the Spirit of the Past Christmas, the Spirit of the Present Christmas and the Spirit of the Future Christmas, teaching certain aspects of his past, present and future life.

Es tal el horror que experimenta al observar el futuro que le espera que promete cambiar si el futuro se invierte.

He is horrified by his future so he promises to change his bad temper if the future is reversed.

Al final, Mr. Scrooge despierta de su pesadilla y se convierte en un hombre generoso y amable.

In the end, Mr. Scooge awakens from his nightmare and becomes a generous and kind man.

Esta novela ha sido adaptada al cine en varias ocasiones, la última de ellas este año 2009, con Jim Carrey en el papel protagonista.
