The Unbearable Lightness of Being, by Milan Kundera.

There is almost no need to explain anything: the fame of the title and the author are enough.

Set in Prague in 1968, describes a man who is full of existential doubts about couple relationships, both loving and sexual nature.

And that´s what I can give you on this book.

In my first year at Univesity (for centuries!) I borrowed this book from my uncle and aunt because some people I knew and seemed to me always up-to-date and very intellectual had read it. So I thought: why not?

Maybe 18 years are not enough for something so trascendental because even if I made my best to understand what I was reading, I couldn´t get the message and my only aim was to finish the book to see if in the end it did make sense to me.

Honestly, the only thing that came to my mind when I read the last line of the book was this:

I guess that when I was 18 I wasn´t as intellectual as I thought...

Time went by since but I´ve never read the book again to see if I have grown up to understand it or I´ll never succeed.

QUÉ ME PONGO HOY? Un vestido de rayas

Qué tal si hoy me pongo este vestido?
What if I wear this dress today?

A sailor look: a knitwear dress that has those little details that remind me of the clothes of the cabin boys in the movies:

It is a bit shorter than I´m used to so I think adding these navy leggings would be OK:

At the same time, I don´t feel like showing they are leggings so I´m going to wear boots: I like these ones because its electric blue will give some brightness to the outfit.

I want to keep the sailor spirit so nothing better than this navy double-buttoned jacket:

Finally, a couple of details; gloves to keep the hands warm:

And a flowered blue scarf around the neck because I love the mixtures of prints and fabrics:

Ya está!
That´s it!

Do you remember the Infinity Dress designed by Donna Karan, that cost a pretty penny and to which we referred in an older post?

The brand La Casita de Wendy has its own infinity dress which can be worn in 20 different ways!

As you can see they have it in two colours: red and beige.

On the other hand, it´s much happier and infinitely more affordable than the Donna Karan dress!!!

A few days ago, having a coffee with N.Mt. she told me how in the company of a friend had organized a very original Christmas lunch.

They had to cook marmitako; this is, a tuna and potatoes casserole.

They rented a warehouse (with kitchen, I suppose...) and, in groups, they had to cook the recipe as best as they could: more than anything because they had to eat it later.

To top it off, they had also organized a competition of tapas (snacks).

Ji, ji, ji.
Needless to say that N.Mt.´s friend was not there, but certainly gave her much grief...

Well, I´m not surprised: I imagine trying not to bang someone´s  head with a saucepan while I hear that I don´t know how to peel potatoes or the food is short of salt.

Christmas meals with the colleages must end this way:

Todo el mundo divirtiéndose. Y no apestando a fritanga!
Everybody having fun. And not smelling of greasy fried food!

POR FIN: LAS REBAJAS!

Alegría! Hoy empiezan las rebajas!!!
Jump for joy! Sales start today!!!

I have the VISA trembling after the excesses of Christmas. Anyway, after work I´ll go whizzing to the mall to see if I find something to buy...

Better if I write a list with those things I really need; I don´t want to end this way:

The first trip of 2010: back to Madrid.

But this is a very short jaunt: I will spend one only night.

I´m going to see some of the temporary exhibitions at the Prado (Dutchmen at The Prado; Main).

Holandeses en el Prado

Maíno

y El Thyssen (Fantin-Latour).
and The Thyssen Museum (Fantin-Latour).

Fantin-Latour

I also want to approach the Costume Museum which presents a retrospective of Arturo Elena (Arturo Elena: 25 years of ilustration).

Let´s see if I have time enough because I have to do it all in 1 day! I don´t know, it´s too much for so little time so surely I must give up something. We´ll see, I will decide on the fly.

The metro map is essencial in Madrid: I´m going to study now...

QUE YA VIENEN!

Todavía tenemos una última oportunidad! Están a punto de llegar!!!
We still have one last chance! They are about to arrive!!!

We will have to leave some fresh water for the camels: they would be very tired, carrying all these presents such a long way:

Feliz Noche de Reyes!
Happy Twelfth Night!
